Rogers Townsend & Thomas PC named J. Geoffrey Osborn Jr. to lead the new Upstate office, set to open in January. The law firm currently employs more than 65 attorneys at offices in Columbia, Charlotte, Charleston and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Statewide accounting firm names new managing partner

Debra A. Turner, who joined WebsterRogers LLP in a merger in 2000 and has served as partner-in-charge over the firm’s Charleston and Summerville offices since that time, will take over as the top executive for the Florence-based company on Jan. 1.

Director of state insurance department resigns

David Black, former CEO of Liberty Life Insurance Co., resigned as director of the state Department of Insurance. Gov. Nikki Haley, who appointed Black on Jan. 20, plans to announce an interim director soon. Black did not say what led to his decision, according to reports.

SCDOT to develop plan to move freight from port

The state Department of Transportation wants to develop a 20-year multimodal plan to move freight from the Port of Charleston throughout South Carolina.
