Care to take a blast to the past? The Sparkleberry Country Fair is a huge event that will take place from Friday, April 27 to Sunday, April 29. The fair will have many activities and demonstrations that reveal interesting realities from the past. There will be a barnyard where farm animals can be observed and petted. Many different amusement rides will be ready for your riding pleasure and hundreds of different vendors will provide all of your favorite fair foods! Tons of different forms of entertainment will be present, with a variety of choirs, bands, contests, dancers, and much more. Also try your luck at traditional fair games! Although the fair is all three days, the full country fair will only be present on Saturday. However, amusement rides will be available all three days. The fair will take place at the Clemson University Sandhill Research and Education Center. Cost for entry is $10 for every car and additional costs for rides if one so chooses. There is a beauty in music that all need to hear! Come to the Koger Center for the Arts to hear the Philharmonic play in their final performance of the season. The orchestra will be preforming three pieces. The first piece is “Toccata and Fugue” by J.S. Bach and Stokowski. You may have heard this composition in the Disney classic Fantasia. The second piece is “Tropoi” by Torsten Rasch, a concerto inspired by the novel Melodie and containing a huge violinist solo sure to leave you amazed. The final piece is “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky and Ravel. This movement is inspired by, hence its name, pictures an art exhibition. The concert is expected to last about an hour and a half to two hours, including intermission. One of the bests part of the concert is that the proceeds go towards the Free Medical Clinic. If you love seafood, then take a drive down to Mt Pleasant for the Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival. This event is sure to keep you entertained with a boat parade, live music, a craft show, a shrimp-eating contest, and a shag dance competition. Many different restaurants will be serving the best from their menus and snack vendors will provide all of your favorite sweet and salty treats!
