    Plans for a Wonderful Weekend

Imagine the delectable taste of a juicy tomato on parched, summer day. The 8th annual Palmetto Tasty Tomato Festival, at City Roots, is the best place to find this divine red fruit. Not only will tomatoes be present but also many other local fruits and vegetables. The festival is only fifteen dollars upon reaching it. The cost includes live music, face paintings, bounce houses, local venders, and much more! These activities make the festival perfect for a fun Saturday night with family or friends. The live music is performed by a variety of bands including Danielle Howle, Ashes of Old Ways, Dangermuffin, the Prairie Willows, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, and Black Bottom Biscuits. Join others on August 5th from 1 p.m.-7 p.m. in celebrating local food, homegrown in the Midlands. Click here for more information.

Everyone loves buying something on sale rather than at full price. All the businesses of Devine Street and Five Points are coming together to produce their annual Sidewalk Sale. All the stores will be aligned along the sidewalk, selling their products for up to 90% off. Remember, this is also tax free weekend so lots of money will be saved! Businesses selling on the sidewalk include Anytime Fitness, Best Mattress, Burger Tavern 77, Craft & Draft, Just the Thing, Mainstream Boutique, Pout, Salty’s, Strictly Running, Westend Interiors and much more. Live music will also be performed at certain locations. This once in a year opportunity is happening from Friday, August 4 – Sunday, August 6. Click here for more information.

Join Dory and her search for her parents under the deep blue sea. Crooked Creek Park resumes its annual tradition of a back to school movie night. This year, Finding Dory will be featured as the perfect movie for a family night. Bring towels, blankets, and chairs to view the movie. Complimentary snacks will be available, such as popcorn, snow cones, candy, sodas, and water, but you are welcome to bring your own favorites as well. The movie will be held at the Crooked Creek Park on Saturday, August 5 from 8:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The movie is a completely free event and is open to all ages. Click here for more information.
