    Art: A Collection of Collections
    The South Carolina State Museum will be showcasing over 4,000 pieces of an eclectic range of art, some never before seen, starting January 17. Art ranges from sculptures, engravings, to paintings, all fascinating pieces from South Carolina artists. Each piece of art is further explained with many intriguing stories and explanations. Guests are invited to explore pieces of folk and decorative art grouped into collections based on medium. The collection features genuine artwork dating back to 1591 and pottery that is over 4,000 years old! Come visit South Carolina State Museum to visually experience South Carolinian culture.
    The museum is open Monday-Friday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

    Artists For Africa Postcard Art 2017
    Come enjoy a night out at the Embassy Suites in Columbia, SC on February 15 to support free arts education programs for orphaned and vulnerable children who live in the city slums of Kenya. Take this wonderful opportunity to discover new artists and give back to your community, or even the world. The evening will commence with cocktails and live music from Dr. Jason Carpenter on the keyboards from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. During this hour, appetizers will circle around while previews of the artwork are displayed. After the cocktail hour, the gallery will open up for the guests to observe the postcard size art, donated from artists’s all over the country. All pieces are displayed anonymously with the artist’s signature on the backside of the art. Postcard art offers a one of a kind opportunity for guests to acquire original pieces for a affordable price. Also, guests can take this opportunity to discover new emerging artists or known artists. In addition to the postcard art on display, there will be jewelry, oversized paintings, and art glass pieces available for purchase.
    This event will take place at the Embassy Suites Columbia- Greystone (200 Stoneridge Dr, Columbia, SC 29210) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
    Admission is $15 and the postcards will be available for purchase for $65.
