Holiday season has begun in the Columbia area, and with it, comes plenty to see and do. The streets will soon become magical decked out in twinkling lights and holiday decorations. Not only is it beautiful, but it is hard to stay bored during this festive season. Mark your calendars for these fun-filled exciting holiday events!

Lights Before Christmas at Riverbanks Zoo & Garden select nights in November & December

Holiday Lights on the River at Saluda Shoals Park. Take a journey through colorful lights and animated displays every day from November 30th until December 31st.

A Starry Night in Five Points on Friday, December 7th. Enjoy sales & specials from all your favorite Five Points stores, musical performances, holiday tunes & more!

Vista Lights on the Thursday before Thanksgiving. Mix, mingle, wine, dine & holiday shop at the Vista’s signature Open House.

Festival of Trees at the S.C. State Museum November 22nd through 24th.  Fundraising event benefits Prisma Health Children’s Hospital – Midlands and features a silent auction of decorated trees, tabletop trees, wreaths, menorahs and gifts.

53rd Annual Governor’s Carolighting -FREE event which marks the official start of South Carolina’s holiday season. Visits and pictures with Santa and complimentary hot chocolate on November 24th beginning at 5:30PM.

Tacos, Tequila & Tacky Sweaters – Unlimited tacos, bottomless margaritas, music & of course, tacky holiday sweaters highlight this adult only event at 701 Whaley Street in downtown Columbia.

S.C. Philharmonic Holiday POPS – Musicians return for another year of their wildly popular show sure to get you in the spirit of the season.

The Nutcracker – The Columbia City ballet brings holiday magic with its production of this enchanting performance at Koger Center for the Arts.

Sleigh Bell Trot – Fun & festive four mile timed race amid the sparkling light display at Saluda Shoals Park on November 26th from 7 to 8:30PM.

Sustainable Holiday Market – Sustainable Midlands hosting its 12th Annual holiday market that highlights local artists whose work reflects a commitment to creating a greener South Carolina.

Breakfast with Santa – Bring the kids to Robert Mills Carriage House from 8AM to 11AM to have breakfast with the jolly big guy himself. Take pictures, stroll the grounds & make holiday crafts at this limited space event.

Holiday Parade of Lights – Come early to grab a spot for the City of Cayce’s anticipated holiday parade on December 14th beginning at 5:30PM in front of the Cayce Municipal Complex.

Lexington’s Holiday Open House – Gather your friends and family to shop locally by visiting participating merchants November 7th-10th. Sales & specials are bound to get you in the holiday spirit!

Craftsman’s Christmas Classic Art & Craft Festival at the SC State Fairgrounds on November 15, 16 and 17. 44th annual event features original designs and works from hundreds of talented artists and craftspeople from across America.

Holiday Art Sale – Take home an original artwork during this two day event on November 21-22. Sale takes place at on the first floor of McMaster College and Gallery.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer – Join Lexington’s Icehouse Amphitheater on Saturday, December 7th, for the showing of this Christmas classic.

2nd Annual Ugly Sweater Crawl – Grab the tacky holiday sweater & pants and join in the fun  on December 14th from 4PM-12AM. See site for participating bars & to purchase tickets.
