Coming Up on Christmas

    Coming Up On Christmas

If you’ve ever watched the classic Christmas movie “Elf”, you would know the main character defines the four major food groups as “candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup”. On December 15, one of these major food groups will be hidden all along a trail at Crooked Creek Park. Bring children from 2-8 years old to the Candy Cane Hunt this Saturday from 3:00-3:30pm. Those who attend should bring a basket for their collected candy canes. Not only will there be a candy cane hunt, but also a chance to decorate a cupcake! Also bring a new, unwrapped toy for donation. The cost to participate is only $2 and will be at Crooked Creek Park. Click here for more information.

Come listen and personally sing-along to one of the most sacred and beloved oratorios ever written: G.F. Handel’s “Messiah”. With the help of a 20-member orchestra and a choir from a combination of different churches, one can sing-along in worship in the beautiful sanctuary of Washington Street United Methodist Church. This completely free event is on Monday 17th at 7pm and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is also the only annual single-along production of the Messiah in South Carolina, so this is an opportunity you really don’t want to miss! Click here for more information.

Do you want the lovely scent of Christmas to fill your home? Come to the Candle Making Workshop on Saturday, December 15 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm to make two of your own 8 oz holiday-scented candles, including a peppermint bark candle and a Christmas Hearth candle. Melissa McGuckin, a local candlemaker and founder of the Soak & Soy business, will be teaching the class and will provide you with all materials and information for making this craft! Hopefully with her help, you have all the knowledge you need to make candles in the future as well! The cost is $60 (or $48 for members) for ages 15 and older. It will be held at the Columbia Museum of Art. Click here to register.
