This event honors Caribbean Heritage Month and spans over the course of four days, from June 7th-June 10th in downtown Columbia. Is shrimp and grits really that good? Come and find out at Columbia’s Shrimp & Grits Fest where all the best restaurants will provide their version of shrimp and grits. A panel of judges will choose who receives the name “Columbia’s Best Shrimp & Grits”. But don’t worry, you get a say in it too! Another unique recipe will be crowned the best as the “People’s Choice”. Live music will also be provided by Prettier Than Matt and all will have a chance to receive door prizes. Tickets are $40 for all over 21, and $25 for all under 21. The event will take place on Saturday, June 9 from 6pm-10pm at the Columbia Conference Center. Click here for tickets and more information.

Immerse yourself into the virtual world as you battle for survival in this intense, fun-filled game: Dark Ride XD. Frankie’s Fun Park brings a new attraction, a Hologate Virtual Reality, to Columbia. Dark Ride XD includes motion, 3D graphics, and special effects as a group of eight people compete against one another to win while battling virtual enemies. And the best part is the attraction is only $7! Make an effort to participate in this unique and innovative experience. However, if you don’t feel like participating, there are many other activities waiting to be played at Frankie’s Fun Park for all ages. If you’re wanting to cool off, jump into the bumper boats: the water version of bumper cars. Although, if the water is not for you, get onto the race track and speed around in their go carts. There is also a huge arcade with hundreds of games that will spit out tickets and bring you that much closer to a prize. Other fun options include the batting cages, mini golf, glow in the dark laser tag, a fun house/jungle gym and a drop zone. This is a great place to go on your own or to bring friends and family!
