Lexington County’s Annual Peach Festival in Gilbert, SC
The Lexington County Peach Festival is an annual event held on July 4th. This one day family-friendly festival celebrates community, Independence Day, and of course, the soft, juicy peach! The festival has live entertainment, arts and crafts, a parade, fireworks, and fresh peach treats.
This year, the Lexington County Peach Festival is celebrating its 61st year. The festival is recognized as one of the most successful events of its kind in the southeastern United States and will draw in more than 30,000 visitors and residents in celebration of the peach. The festival began in the 50s when the community was alive with the harvesting, packing and shipping of peaches. Although there are only a few peach farms left in operation today, the peach remains worthy of honor in the small town of Gilbert.
The festival serves as the main fundraising activity for Gilbert Community Club. Proceeds from the festival are used to support the Gilbert Community Club, Gilbert Community Park, provide scholarships to student volunteers, and support other community civic organizations.
The peach festival in Gilbert is held every year on July 4th (or July 3rd if the 4th is on a Sunday). Festivities kick off in Gilbert Community Park at 9:30 AM with a parade.
