    Upcoming Events at the Columbia Museum of Art

    After more than a year and a half of renovation and transformation, the CMA is back, and it’s “bigger, bolder, and better!” There is an all-new layout, themed collection galleries, and activities for all ages.     January 12th, Gallery Tour: Midcentury Masters and Jackson Pollock

    See the work of pioneer artists in this tour of two exhibitions: Jasper John’s Gifts to the CMA, which includes works from Warhol,  Rauschenberg, Lichtenstein, and Johns himself; and Jackson Pollock: Mural, where you can see the work that launched his career.

     

    January 13th, Ikebana Flower Arrangement Demonstration and Display

    Local Ikebana Chapter 182 will be on hand to display their creations of Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement combining nature with art. Enjoy a tea demonstration and Chinese dancing also!

     

    January 16th, Gladys’ Gang Preschool Edition: Hip to be Square

    Designed for 4 and 5 year olds (with their adult companions), this program is a way to explore art through play and inquiry  and build skills for rising kindergartners. Includes a story, gallery time, and an age-appropriate studio activity.

     

    January 16th, Art Class: Getting to Know Your Jewelry Metalworking Tools

    Beginner metal and jewelry making class that helps you gain the skills needed to make your own metal jewelry. All tools and materials provided.

     

    January 17th, Art Class: Digital Photography

    Two-part workshop to help you get the most out of your digital camera. Learn about parts, settings, composition, shooting, and editing techniques.

     

    January 18th, Arts and Draughts

    Art, drink, and be happy at Columbia’s most creative party. Enjoy beer tasting from the Whig, live music, D.I.Y. art projects, scavenger hunts, tours, and a variety of  food  vendors.
